Pause: daily mindfulness App Reviews

Good idea but iPhone is not the right medium

Having to keep your finger pressed to a small screen while you’re told you’re going "too fast” or “too slow" is not terribly relaxing. I really like the idea of the blob, but I think an iPhone is too small an interface for this to have it’s intended effects, and the commands are too strict. Contact should not be mandatory. Ultimately you end up staring at your phone like one already does all day, focusing on having to force your finger to remain in contact with a device that’s not exactly a signifier of peacefulness or mindfulness… I felt like I was worshipping a smart phone.

Dont waste your money

I tried and paid for this. No. Just no. Ill stick with Headspace. Great write up, got me to purchase but no. Close your eyes? How are you supposed to track a circle w eyes closed? -1

Placebo Effect

Doesnt do anything. You are told its supposed to calm you down so you think its calming you down.

Very relaxing

Ive been using this in late mornings and in the afternoon after a lot of driving to pick up grand kids. It definitely eases the tensions and I can focus more clearly. My Grandaughter is in kindergarten and she takes a turn after me. It seems to bring her back to earth from all the activities at school. I read the little messages for her and she keeps it up for over 3 minutes. My opinion is that it really helps to release stress so I can focus on the kids. I just started using it before I go to bed. So far so good. Thanx

Very Relaxing!

I really like this app. It is very relaxing!

Just love it ...

Wonderful, just love it. i use this everyday.

REALLY works!! Dangerous!

Great app! Downloaded while camping in a state park, used it and mysteriously lost three days of my life. Still looking for a way out. This app has taken me to the edge of reality... All I can remember to do is use the App Store. Where is the Play app? Please find me.

It really works

This app is amazing. I use it as a sleep aid. My mind will be racing in bed. Ill use the app and within five minutes I feel much more peaceful and calm, and I usually fall right to sleep.

You need this in your life.

My first time trying this I had gotten more relaxed than I have ever been in the past week.

Nice concept but not quite there

I love the concept of this app but the overuse of text prompts - stopped, too fast - is far too distracting given the apps purpose. It also is very non-ergonomic. No matter which fingers are used, there is a strain on the wrist that could cause RSI issues with prolonged or frequent use.

Cant wait

I know that they will update this with different sounds for the 6 pluses etc and hopefully they do it quickly because I know when the birds loop in lol.

Life Saver for Anxiety

I have an anxiety problem. Sometimes my mind just cant stop thinking, worrying. This app has been an invaluable tool. It helps me slow down, center myself and stop all of the ruminating. Id recommend this to anyone who needs help "chilling out." Best $1.99 Ive spent in the App Store yet.

Gives me strokes

I was playing this and I had a stroke so warning this stupid game gives you strokes, not calmness and serenity.

Really like the idea, but it doesnt quite get there

I was expecting a little more from this, given that its a paid app. I knew it was just "thumb tai chi" and wouldnt have anything exciting to it, but I also didnt expect the "lava lamp" aspect to disappear after a couple of minutes in a session (the bubble grows as you go, eventually growing larger than the screen such that you cant even tell if its still moving with your touch). I also didnt expect it to be so easy to just forget that youre doing it. Its supposed to be a focus for mindfulness, but really, its so simple that it would be more effective to hold a very full cup of water and use that as your focus point. Tai chi has forms to give some structure to the controlled movements, this does not. It also has no minimum speed, so you can just creep your finger across the screen and defeat the purpose. If it was free, itd be a nice app, but for 2-3 bucks, its not worth it.

Works Well

Nice little app. Works well when combined with deep breathing.

Disappointed

I agree with the many reviewers who were disappointed with this...the "blobs" disappear a minute or so after you begin and youre left slowly rubbing a solid green iPhone screen for what feels like an eternity...accompanied by a cheesy synth trance loop with birds chirping. My hand started cramping and I grew irritated. It was anything but calming.

Cheburyatkas

Really enjoy the app. Helps me fall asleep better, but I use it on the phone and the dot gets big way too fast..

Waste of money

All you need to do to get the same experience for free is play soothing music and move your finger slowly along your display. This app tells you to close your eyes at one point but not when to open them. The only other instructions told is to follow a dot, and move slowly anywhere.

Glad I only spent $0.99 on this.

Im not seeing the benefit of this. Follow a dot for three seconds and then go where you want. I just kept getting anxious waiting for something else to happen. That music makes it even worse because it always sounds like its about to pick up and start rocking, but no, its just always hanging on that note. Actually had the opposite effect on me than it claimed it would have.

Love this simple design

Very effective stress releasing app. It helps you focus back and slow down. I like the option to remove the written cues and that there are different levels and different time settings.
